Job summary

County Parks Department is seeking a supervisory professional to oversee park maintenance operations and staff in Georgia. The role involves planning, coordinating, and reviewing work, plus training, scheduling vacations, and conducting performance evaluations.

Responsibilities include inspections for safety and quality, vendor coordination for materials, and creating schedules and budget documents. Strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; five years of progressively responsible experience in parks maintenance, to include lead or supervisory experience; or a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises regular and temporary staff; plans, coordinates, assigns and reviews work; evaluates training needs and provides instruction.
• Schedules staff vacations and approves sick leave; interviews candidates; conducts employee performance evaluations.
• Inspects assigned parks and grounds to ensure tasks are completed and areas are safe and esthetically pleasing.
• Procures items by identifying needs, calling vendors for bids, creating requisitions and selecting best price.
• Creates schedules and documents for grounds maintenance, park inspections and budget reports.
• Manages shop work orders to ensure quality, timely completion and proper tools.
• Educates employees on equipment handling and safety; conducts monthly safety meetings.
• Performs other related duties as required.
