Job Details

The successful candidate may be offered a position as either a Park Maintenance Worker I or II. The hourly rate for Worker I is $17.00; for Worker II, it is $18.58.

Summary of Duties

Under close supervision, the Park Maintenance Worker I assists with routine maintenance, repair, and construction of facilities and landscaping. The Worker II performs similar tasks but with more responsibility and independence.

Essential Job Functions

• Mows, maintains turf and landscaping; prunes and trims trees and shrubs; removes weeds, litter, brush, and debris.
• Inspects, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment.
• Operates power equipment including trucks, mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
• Assists with projects such as sod and seed installation, tree planting, and landscape renovations.
• Supports special events setup and operations.
• Maintains regular attendance as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction, repair, landscape maintenance, and equipment operation.
• Skills in clear communication, operating vehicles and tools, and following instructions.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months (Worker I) or one year (Worker II) of parks maintenance, landscaping, or construction experience preferred.
• Valid Class “C” Driver’s License; must obtain Texas Class “C” license within 30 days of hire.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Requires mobility, strength, stamina, and the ability to operate tools and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and handle fieldwork duties.
