Job summary

North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II for the Eno River State Park location in Durham, NC. The role involves hands-on maintenance of grounds, buildings, and equipment, including trail work, custodial tasks, and basic auto/engine care.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least 1 year in related trades; EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
• OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possibly current EPA certification as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities

• Operations: opening duties to include basic maintenance and cleaning of facilities
• Groundskeeping: mowing, tractor operations
• Trail building and trail maintenance to include footbridges, steps, tree hazard removal
• Facility maintenance: painting, carpentry, plumbing, air filter replacement, etc. on all buildings
• Basic automotive and small engine care; cleaning, sharpening blades/ chains, changing oil, etc.

Education

High school or GED diploma AND one year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
