Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I (S) to inspect facilities, lead maintenance crews, and oversee major repairs. The role involves interpreting blueprints, coordinating safety, and managing costs for renovations at parks and historic sites.

Typical schedule is Mon–Fri with on-call and weekend rotations; CDL within 12–24 months is expected. This essential staff role supports DNCR operations across NC.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and work experience performing trades in at least three of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or auto mechanics.
• Demonstrated knowledge of building codes and regulations governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities and machinery.
• Experience reading and/or drawing blueprints/structural specifications and estimating material.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages outside bid packages and monitors contractor work.
• Serves as liaison to local officials and regulatory agencies.
• Supervises staff and volunteers on special projects.
• Maintains record-keeping and prepares basic forms.
• Provides hands-on supervision of routine construction, maintenance, and repairs.
