Job summary

Queen Anne’s County Government in Maryland seeks a dedicated grounds maintenance worker to perform a range of manual labor and landscape tasks with limited supervision. The role includes customer service, equipment handling, and routine upkeep to support county activities.

This position is designated as essential and may require shift work, overtime, weekends, and holidays. A High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year or more years of related experience or training.
• Chainsaw, forklift, and/or bucket truck certification preferred.
• Possession of a Class C Motor Vehicle Operator’s License issued by the Maryland MVA (or equivalent) and DOT Physical Certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
• Performs manual labor and uses various appliances, hand tools and motorized and electrical tools.
• Performs routine turf management and landscape functions; operates string trimmers, mowers, and related equipment.
• Performs routine custodial duties.
• May operate snowplow and apply salt on walkways as needed.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Performs routine landscape functions; waters lawns and maintains planting beds.
• Cleans and sharpens mowers and performs routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
