Job summary

Harford County Government is seeking a manual and semi-skilled worker for maintenance and repair of parks, recreation facilities, and county property. You will perform a wide range of tasks under close supervision, advancing to independent work as skills grow.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year of related experience. A valid Class C driver's license is required, and you must be able to lift heavy objects and work with various tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school, vocational-technical school, or possession of a GED certificate.
• One year of experience in building maintenance, ground maintenance, landscaping or farming work.
• Valid Class C non-commercial driver's license with no more than three points.

Responsibilities

• Grooms ball diamonds, erects goal posts, repairs fencing, backboards, nets and rims.
• Removes trash from parks, playgrounds and other areas.
• Performs light janitorial work and operates equipment (mowers, trimmers, saws, chippers).
• Drives pickups, SUVs, vans and utility trucks; transports equipment with a small trailer.
• Cleans exterior of buildings and machinery; performs carpentry and painting tasks.
• Installs/removes temporary fencing for events and supports show setup.
• Assists landscaping, gardens and stormwater management on county properties.
• Supports Adopt-A-Park program activities and volunteer groups.
• On 24-hour call during snowstorms; may assist with snow prep operations.
• Report to DPW for snow clearing duties as assigned.
