Job summary

City of Springfield is seeking Maintenance Workers to join the Park Operations division, focusing on the upkeep of over 3,200 acres across 105 locations including ball fields, trails, structures, pavilions, and playgrounds.

Responsibilities include operating dump trucks, flusher trucks, and various loaders, with at least one weekend day in the set schedule. CDL licensing is required within specified timelines; a drug-free workplace is enforced.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of experience (or 6 months if candidate has direct City of Springfield experience) in the operation of dump trucks, flusher trucks, skid-steer loaders, front-end loaders or comparable equipment operation.
• One year of maintenance and/or construction work comparable to work in Parks & Public Works Departments in areas such as street/road work, grounds work, maintaining sports fields, agriculture, and sewer or utility pipe line work.
• Must pass the written portion of the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) exam within 90 days of hire, and obtain a Class
• B

Responsibilities

• Maintenance staff care for over 3,200 acres of park property and work on ball fields, trails, structures, pavilions, playground equipment, trees, and botanical gardens.
• Park Operations maintains neighborhood and regional parks and facilities, ensuring upkeep of facilities and grounds.
