Job summary

The City of Springfield, Oregon is seeking Public Works Technicians to maintain streets, sewers, drainage, signs, and equipment. We offer in-house training, advancement opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and gym memberships.

CDL training and city-provided instruction are included. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED, 18+ years old, valid Oregon driver’s license, and progress towards CDL with city training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be 18 years old or older at time of appointment.
• Valid Oregon Driver’s license at time of appointment.
• Oregon Commercial Learner’s Permit must be obtained within 6 months of appointment (City provided training).
• Oregon Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B and endorsements must be obtained within one year of appointment (City provided training).
• Technician II requires minimum three years of specialized experience related to public works and equipment; assessed during interview.

Responsibilities

• Maintain streets, sanitary sewer systems, drainage systems, street signs, surface markings, equipment, and landscaped areas.
• Operate equipment and vehicles as part of daily duties.
• Participate in in-house training program for public works maintenance and vehicle operation.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Must be 18 years old or older

Oregon Commercial Learner's Permit within 6 months

Oregon CDL Class B and endorsements within 1 year

Three years of specialized experience related to public works (Technician II)
