Job summary

Town of West Springfield is seeking a maintenance worker to operate a range of municipal equipment for snow removal and perform upkeep across parks, playgrounds and recreation areas. The role includes painting and minor repairs to town-owned facilities, and assisting forestry operations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of related experience; a Massachusetts Driver's License is required. Physical tasks and outdoor work in all weather are common.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in the same or related field.

Responsibilities

• Operates light to heavy-duty equipment for snow removal as license allows.
• Paints and repairs Town-owned equipment and buildings.
• Performs tasks normally assigned to a laborer.
• Installs park and playground equipment and sets up hockey rinks; maintains parks, playgrounds and skating rinks.
• Assists the Forestry department with operations.
• Performs miscellaneous manual tasks in maintenance of recreation areas, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds.
• Maintains grounds: plants, seeds, rakes, fertilizes, and trims fields and park areas.
