Job summary

Buncombe County Government is seeking a Parks Laborer for the Recreation Services department. This part-time role (17 hours per week) emphasizes evening and weekend park support, routine patrols, trash collection, and basic groundskeeping to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming parks.

Responsibilities include restroom inspections, facility checks, reporting safety or maintenance concerns, and assisting with events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some knowledge of basic groundskeeping, custodial, and park maintenance.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of parks and facilities, especially evenings and weekends.
• Perform trash removal and disposal in park areas.
• Inspect restrooms and park amenities and report repairs.
• Operate basic maintenance equipment and hand tools as assigned.
• Assist with events, emergencies, and special park needs.
