Job summary

Buncombe County Parks & Recreation is seeking a part-time Parks Laborer to perform routine maintenance, custodial, safety, and park support tasks at our facilities, with a primary focus on evening and weekend operations.

Duties include patrols of parks, trash removal, restroom and facility checks, groundskeeping, and operation of basic tools; you will report hazards, assist with fields and events, and help keep parks clean and safe.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic groundskeeping and park maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to operate basic tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of parks, facilities, parking areas, trails, and athletic areas, especially during evenings and weekends.
• Perform trash pickup and litter removal across parks and parking areas.
• Inspect restrooms and park amenities, reporting repair needs and supply deficiencies.
• Assist with groundskeeping, raking leaves, and maintaining pathways and facilities.
• Operate basic maintenance equipment and hand tools as needed.
