Job summary

Buncombe County Government seeks a part-time Recreation Facility Assistant to support daily park operations at Buncombe County Sports Park. You will help open/close facilities, assist visitors, collect fees when needed, and perform light maintenance with a small, collaborative team.

The role requires outdoor work in varying weather, weekend/evening shifts, and a background in customer service or maintenance. A driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience in customer services or maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Open, monitor, and close parks and recreation facilities.
• Speak with park visitors and answer questions.
• Empty trash, pick up litter, perform janitorial tasks, and light maintenance.
• Assist with event support and maintain a welcoming, safe environment.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
