Job summary

The City of Jeffersonville is seeking a GENERAL LABORER in its Parks and Recreation/Motor Vehicle/Sanitation division. This entry-level position performs building cleaning, grounds maintenance, trash collection, and city property upkeep, using hand tools, lawn equipment, and light-duty trucks.

Responsibilities include mowing, planting, snow removal, routine equipment maintenance, and assisting with city facilities, street repairs, and event setups.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent; valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with hand tools, chain saws, lawn equipment, and light-duty trucks.
• Ability to safely operate ladders up to 8 ft.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds maintenance: mowing, planting, seeding, watering, pest/weed control.
• Maintains equipment: oil changes, blade repair, small engine repair; tune turf equipment.
• Maintains City buildings/facilities; cleans and restocks supplies; basic repairs to plumbing/electrical.
• Assists with installation/removal of equipment for events; prepares athletic fields and aquatic center equipment.
• Works on street maintenance, signs, and sanitation collection with crews.
