Job summary

The General Laborer role in the Parks and Recreation department is an entry-level position performing manual work in grounds and facility maintenance. Tasks include mowing, planting, trash collection, and basic repairs, using hand tools and small equipment. Ability to operate a light-duty truck is required and safety procedures must be followed.

Hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential assignments to support city events and facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent preferred; valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with hand tools, chain saws, lawn equipment and light-duty truck operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance: mowing, planting, watering, pruning and weed control.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and basic repairs as directed.
• Assist with cleaning, building maintenance and waste collection.
• Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws and other light equipment safely.
• Work with city crews to maintain parks and property.
