Qualifications

• AGE : 18 years of age or older; except for high school graduates (or persons with GED equivalency) who are 17.
• LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of hire.
• Some Grounds Maintenance Worker I positions require unusual work schedules (e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, overtime, and shifts exceeding eight hours at certain times throughout the year).
• Grounds Maintenance Worker I employees may be required to bend and stoop repeatedly and lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Grounds Maintenance Worker I employees assigned to work at Mt. Hope Cemetery may be required to lift ground tamps, metal frames for burial graves, and memorial markers that weigh between 75 and 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Grounds Maintenance Worker I performs physically active and routine grounds maintenance and custodial tasks at recreation facilities, parks, golf courses and other public facilities.
• Drive a pickup truck or other vehicle to job sites with equipment and supplies.
• Edge, water, mow, prune and trim park landscapes and golf courses; prepare golf course areas for play by setting cups and placing tee markers.
