Job summary

The City of San Diego is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker II to maintain parks, recreation centers, and other City facilities. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, irrigation maintenance, and basic facility upkeep to ensure safe and attractive grounds.

Qualifying experience includes operation or repair of grounds maintenance equipment, irrigation systems, playground equipment, brush management, and cleaning tasks. Some positions may involve odd hours or weekend work.

Qualifications

• One year of paid experience in grounds maintenance work including fertilizing and planting turf, shrubs, trees or ground covers, and pruning trees and shrubs.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds and facility maintenance such as mowing, edging, pruning, and planting shrubs.
• Maintain athletic fields and prepare sports areas for use.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and comfort stations.
• Set up facilities for events (meetings, dances, conferences).
• Perform minor painting and upkeep of facilities and equipment.
• Drive a pickup or similar vehicle to job sites with supplies and equipment.
• Report repairs and safety hazards to supervisors for follow-up.
