Job summary

The City of Olathe is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker II to help keep our parks clean, safe, and attractive for residents and visitors. This role covers mowing, equipment operation, basic repairs, and involvement in construction projects across the park system.

The position includes on-call responsibilities with potential overtime and occasional weekend work, as part of a three-level career path from Park Maintenance Worker I to III. We value community impact and reliable public service.

Qualifications

• One year of parks or grounds maintenance experience is required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks involving mowing and maintenance of parks and public grounds, operation of equipment, repairs to equipment and park assets, and assisting with various basic construction projects throughout the Olathe parks system.
• Operates a variety of equipment including riding mowers, trucks with trailers, snow removal equipment, hand tools, and a variety of other equipment.
• Performs a wide variety of manual labor tasks which include shoveling, planting flowers and shrubs, snow removal duties, and lifting.
• Participates in weekly housekeeping duties, park grounds cleanup, and building maintenance.
