Job summary

Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Maryland Park Service seeks Park Technician Trainee/I/II across the state. The roles involve maintaining grounds, facilities, and equipment in state parks, and supporting park operations with trail work and repairs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least two years in skilled trades or park maintenance; this role may include supervising seasonal staff and requires a valid driver’s license. Medical exams may be required after an offer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in skilled trades or park maintenance/operations.
• May substitute forestry/wildlife/parks education for experience at 30 credits per year.
• Military service may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, facilities and equipment in state parks and forests.
• Perform carpentry, electrical, masonry and plumbing tasks as needed.
• Assist with trail construction, mowing, tree removal and boundary marking.
• Supervise or lead seasonal staff or volunteers as required.
