Qualifications

• Must be able to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures.
• Must be able to follow safety regulations and operate equipment safely to protect the public.
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance principles as assigned.
• Must safely operate a motor vehicle and various heavy equipment.
• Must take direction and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires ability to stand, walk, stoop and kneel for long periods.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must work outdoors and around vegetation, dust, fumes, and odors.
• Must have manual dexterity to use hand and power tools.
• Must tolerate wildlife and off-leash dogs.
• Must take initiative to improve grounds and communicate with supervisor.
• Must read printed instructions and have basic math and language skills.

Responsibilities

• Open and close park restrooms and amenities.
• Clean and maintain grounds, restrooms, dugouts, parking lots, splash pad, and open areas.
• Sanitize restrooms, replace supplies, mop floors, and clean facilities.
• Check stock and reorder supplies as directed.
• Assist with fields grooming: chalking, lining, painting, and designation boxes.
• Report maintenance, vandalism, or unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
