Job summary

City of Lenexa's Parks and Recreation department seeks an apprentice Parks Facilities Maintenance Technician I to perform preventive and routine maintenance of park facilities under close supervision. You will operate city vehicles and equipment, assist with construction and repairs, monitor pool and fountain systems, complete daily logs, support events, and help snow removal when needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with 2–3 years maintenance experience; AFO certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or trade school cert and 2–3 years facility maintenance experience.
• AFO certification or ability to obtain within two years.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate City vehicles, powered equipment and hand tools for maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with construction and repair of park structures and amenities.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and appliance maintenance tasks.
• Monitor and operate pool and fountain filtration and chemical systems.
• Complete daily work orders and maintenance logs.
• Support snow and ice removal operations, including after-hours and weekends.
• Assist with set up and clean-up for special events.
• Inspect and clean playgrounds, shelters and public areas.
• Collaborate with other division staff and assist in other facility maintenance areas as needed to meet operational needs.
• May lead and coordinate seasonal workers under supervision.
