Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a grounds maintenance worker for non-technical gardening tasks. Duties include maintaining flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns, and pathways, with seasonal snow removal and occasional park caretaker duties during summer.

Work is performed with minimal supervision and subject to regular inspections. Requirements include basic horticultural knowledge, ability to operate standard equipment, and a valid driver’s license with at least six months to obtain Kansas CDL.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Kansas class A CDL within six months.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Six months of experience cultivating and caring for lawns, shrubs and trees (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims, edges, and maintains turf and landscaped areas.
• Performs irrigation, pruning, and fertilizing as directed.
• Maintains cleanliness of walks and hard surfaces.
• Removes snow and handles winter grounds maintenance as needed.
• Operates and maintains gardening equipment safely.
