Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago seeks a Parish Bookkeeper for St. James Parish in Arlington Heights to support the Pastor and Operations Director with the financial resources of the Parish and School.

This full-time role requires proficiency in QuickBooks, payroll processing, and financial reporting, with a salary range of $65,000–$75,000 and benefits consistent with Archdiocesan policies. The candidate should have an Associate degree in Business and a strong commitment to confidentiality and service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business or related discipline, or 5+ years of parish/business experience.
• Solid understanding of accounting practices and regulations.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office and payroll services.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Handles all parish and school bookkeeping functions (AP/AR, deposits, and reimbursements).
• Prepare monthly financial reports and budget-to-actual analyses.
• Assist with payroll preparation and journal entries; backup payroll administrator as needed.
• Ensure internal controls are in place and appropriate; attend finance meetings.
