Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago, which oversees St. Carlo Acutis Parish in Bucktown, is seeking a Part-Time Bookkeeper to assist in managing parish finances and HR functions in alignment with Archdiocesan policies.

The role requires two years in accounting within a parish or similar entity, proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel, and familiarity with UKG payroll. Travel to other Archdiocesan locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum two years in accounting or finance role within a parish or business entity.
• Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
• Experience in Human Resources practices, including policy application and employment laws.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with UKG payroll system is a plus.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to travel to other Archdiocesan locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform all bookkeeping functions including bank reconciliations and accounts payable processing.
• Process payroll journal entries and post deposits and wire transfers.
• Prepare financial reports and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual journals.
• Ensure internal controls and Archdiocesan policies are followed.
• Assist with Finance Council materials and parish fundraising events.
