Job summary

The Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC invites an experienced Director of Finance and Administration to lead financial stewardship, accounting, and day-to-day operations for the parish and school.

You will partner with the Pastor and school principal, manage budgets, payroll, HR basics, and risk; ensure GAAP compliance, reporting to the Diocese, and coordinate with facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of hands-on accounting and business management experience. Prior parish/school/non-profit experience is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• 1–2 years of staff supervision experience and collaboration with boards/councils.
• Knowledge of payroll, HR basics, and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls across accounting records.
• Manage AP/AR, monthly balance sheets, and payroll journals.
• Oversee daily/weekly cash processes and bank reconciliations.
• Lead budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for annual operating and capital budgets.
• Support fundraising, stewardship initiatives, and capital projects as needed.
• Collaborate with Facilities Manager on IT, maintenance, and vendor contracts.
• Oversee HR administration and payroll records; interface with diocesan HR.
• Supervise Facilities Manager and other staff.
