Job summary

The Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC seeks a Director of Finance and Administration to steward financial, administrative, and operational resources.

This senior role partners with the Pastor and peers in parish leadership and will grow from core financial duties to include HR and facilities oversight. Initial focus on accounting precision, bookkeeping, and reporting, with expansion to broader administrative management as systems solidify.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of hands-on accounting and business management experience, ideally in a parish, school, or nonprofit setting.
• Strong forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting capabilities.
• 1–2+ years of staff supervision, with collaboration to boards or councils.
• Familiarity with payroll, employment regulations, and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Accounting: manage AP/AR, monthly balance sheets, and payroll journals.
• Cash management: bank reconciliations and weekly offering processes.
• Budgeting & reporting: lead annual budgets and provide statements to Pastor, Finance Council, and Diocese.
• Fundraising support and capital project assistance.
