Job summary

Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a Parish Facilities Engineer for St. Francis de Sales Parish in Akron, Ohio. The role oversees HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems to ensure a safe and functional environment for parishioners, staff, and students.

Reporting to the Director of Parish Operations, you will supervise maintenance personnel, coordinate with vendors, and manage capital projects. Flexibility for after-hours work, weekends, and events is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of five years of experience with buildings and grounds, construction management, or industrial facility maintenance.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience and personnel management skills.
• Ability to diagnose and perform routine to mid-level repairs.
• Facilities management certifications or equivalent practical experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of parish properties and security systems.
• Oversee scheduled maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and other facility systems.
• Advise on selection and supervision of contractors for repairs or renovations.
• Ensure compliance with local fire, safety, and occupational codes.
• Manage emergency preparedness plans with the parish safety team.
• Set up rooms and facilities for church events in coordination with staff.
• Provide input for annual maintenance and capital budgets.
