Job summary

The Paratransit Operator at TARTA in Toledo, OH is responsible for safe, dependable, and courteous transportation of passengers, including pre-trip inspections and driving TARTA vehicles along assigned routes.

You will assist passengers with mobility needs, adhere to safety regulations, record rider attendance, report maintenance issues, and participate in ongoing training to maintain high service standards.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with minimal demerits and clean driving record.
• Competent in following written and oral instructions and safety procedures.
• High school diploma or GED required; driving experience preferred.
• Three years of licensed driving experience required; training completed as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and accurately complete inspection forms.
• Operate TARTA vehicles safely to transport passengers along designated routes.
• Maintain order and enforce safety rules during trips.
• Aid passengers with mobility devices, including securing seat belts, hookups, and harnesses.
• Record daily rider attendance for reporting purposes.
• Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and TARTA policies.
• Attend driver meetings and relevant training workshops.
• Undertake any other related duties as directed.
