Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or successfully passed the Para Pro Test.
• Must have completed the Teacher Assistant Training Course
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Knowledge of general office equipment
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform under the teacher’s supervision and direction in all areas of school activities and instruction.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with large group activities and practice skills.
• Assist with developing strategies for reinforcing material based on individual needs.
• Guide independent study and enrichment work.
• Help students master technology or instructional materials.
• Implement instructional and behavioral plans designed by IEP team.
• Assist in collaborative teaching activities in general education classrooms.
• Distribute and collect materials for instruction.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, field trips, and non-direct instructional periods.
• Read to students and participate in oral reading activities.
• Assist with activities of daily living (eating, dressing, toileting).
• Maintain communication with educators about student needs and confidentiality.
