Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform under the teacher's supervision and direction in all areas of school activities and instruction.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with large group activities such as practice skill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Help students master technology or instructional materials as assigned by the teacher.
• Implement instructional and behavioral plans designed by IEP team; monitor data.
• Assist in collaborative teaching activities, which may include general education classrooms.
• Assist in instruction carried out by itinerant teachers and related service providers.
• Distribute and collect workbooks and materials.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, field trips and non-instructional periods.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in oral activities.
• Assist with activities of daily living and transitions.
• Maintain communication with educators and uphold FERPA confidentiality.
• Serve as a resource for substitutes in absence of the usual teacher.
• Engage in in-service training and professional development.
• Maintain CPI certification where required.
• Cover duties of absent full-time paraprofessionals.
