Job summary

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is seeking a Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support to students in general education classrooms for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum and develop independence.

Qualifications

  • Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Endorsement or Short-Term Approval required or ability to obtain before employment.
  • Experience with adolescents preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Assist with classroom activities, transitions, assignments, and daily routines to promote independence.

  • Foster positive peer interactions and encourage student engagement.
  • Assist with supervision during lunch, passing periods, and other school activities as assigned.

Job description

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is accepting applications for a Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support to students in general education settings for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to help students access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve academic, behavioral, and social success throughout the school day.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one academic, organizational, and behavioral support to an assigned student in general education classrooms.
  • Assist the student with classroom activities, transitions, assignments, and daily routines while promoting independence.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the student's educational plan.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations with teachers and support staff.
  • Foster positive peer interactions and encourage student engagement.
  • Assist with supervision during lunch, passing periods, and other school activities as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with district policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these license options prior to employment.
  • Experience working with adolescents is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively as part of a team, and build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.

Please see the attached 2025-2026 Aide Salary Schedule and 2026 Employee Benefits summary. NOTE: Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement expired at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we are currently negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
