Job summary

VCU Health is seeking an Assistant Director – EMS Programs to serve as Paramedic Program Director for the VCU Health Paramedic Program and EMS initial education courses. You will ensure accreditation compliance, academic excellence, and a supportive learning environment, reporting to the CTCCE Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• Current Virginia Paramedic certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Current NREMT Paramedic certification.
• Current Virginia Education Coordinator certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Minimum of 10 years as a Paramedic.
• Minimum of 5 years EMS education experience.
• Experience in program administration and leadership.
• Knowledge of CoAEMSP accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all program operations: curriculum development, scheduling, recruitment, retention and faculty management.
• Coordinate with Center Director, Medical Director, and administrator on operations and accreditation.
• Ensure compliance with EMS education standards and record privacy requirements.
• Develop and manage program budget and resource allocation.
• Prepare reports to accrediting bodies and state agencies.
• Monitor key metrics: retention, graduation, certification, employer satisfaction, outcomes.
• Establish and maintain affiliation agreements with EMS and healthcare partners.
• Lead satellite sites and oversee Lead Instructor appointments.
• Represent the program at professional events and conferences.
• Advise and mentor students on academic and career progression.
• Oversee clinical and field internship coordination and relationships with EMS agencies.
