Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Director to lead the Center for Trauma and Critical Care Education (CTCCE) within the School of Medicine. You will provide executive leadership, strategic planning, and fiscal oversight to advance education across medical students, residents, nurses, and EMS professionals.

You will ensure accreditation adherence, drive program innovation, and build regional partnerships while coordinating with departments across VCU Health System.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in EMS, healthcare administration, education, public health, or related field.
• Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP).
• Virginia EMS Education Coordinator certification (or eligibility).
• Demonstrated experience in budget development, financial oversight, and fiscal management.
• Proven track record of program growth, revenue generation, and operational sustainability.
• Executive leadership experience in healthcare or academic environment.
• Experience developing and implementing strategic plans.
• Experience improving operational and administrative efficiencies.
• Extensive knowledge of CAAHEP/CoAEMSP accreditation standards.
• Previous experience as American Heart Association Training Center Faculty.
• Extensive knowledge of Richmond EMS and trauma systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for CTCCE educational programs and staff across medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, paramedics, and military personnel.
• Align programs with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and national best practices.
• Promote educational innovation using simulation, cadaver labs, didactics, hybrids, and online learning.
• Establish quality assurance mechanisms for continuous program improvement.
• Lead strategic planning, budgeting, partnerships, and revenue diversification.
• Oversee training center governance with national organizations like AHA/NAEMT/ATLS.
• Ensure compliance with policies, monitoring, and instructor oversight standards.
• Foster collaboration with internal departments and external EMS/trauma partners.
