Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Paramedic (EMT-P) for the Emergency Department at our Texas Health HEB location in Bedford, TX. The role is PRN with Evening shifts (3p–3a) and may include weekends/holidays.

The team works in a fast-paced ED with interdisciplinary collaboration. Requirements include EMT-P, ACLS, BCLS, and PALS, plus relevant paramedic experience or internship.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship; 1 year Paramedic experience preferred.
• EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required.
• ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
• PALS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides Safe Patient Care Under Physician Delegation.
• Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Maintains airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs.
• Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices.
• Cervical collar management and external defibrillation.
• Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application and airway management.
• Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access and blood draws.

Work hours: PRN (as needed), Evening Shift (3p to 3a). Possible weekend and holiday requirements. Great growth opportunity.

Department Highlights

• Paramedics work closely with physicians, RNs, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams as valued members of the interdisciplinary ED care team
• Hospital-based paramedics function within a defined ED-specific scope of practice, performing advanced clinical skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with Texas Health Resources protocols
• Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
• Fast-Paced, high-volume department averaging 100 - 200 patients/day
• The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition of patient’s affiliations.

What You Will Do

Provides Safe Patient Care Under Physician Delegation:

• Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications. ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations. All IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs. Plans the care of the patient
• Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs
• Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices
• Cervical collar management
• External defibrillation
• Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application
• Oral airway insertion and removal
• Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access
• Draw blood from ports
• Other duties as assigned by the care team

Here’s What You Need

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
