Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a PRN Paramedic to join our Transport EMS team. You will provide advanced life support care, respond to EMS calls, and transport patients in accordance with medical director-approved protocols.

Maintains readiness of vehicles and equipment, completes all required reports, and works under the direction of emergency physicians or EMS leadership. Requires active Kentucky paramedic license, BLS, PALS & ACLS certs, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • PALS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Other KY Board of EMS certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced life support care to patients of all ages.
  • Deliver direct patient care under medical direction and protocols.
  • Complete documentation and patient care reports promptly.
  • Perform ambulance transport within paramedic scope of practice.
  • Prioritize transport of multiple patients and coordinate resources.
  • Maintain vehicle, equipment readiness, and ALS gear.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies and EMS scope of practice.

Summary

Summary Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician's assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS medical protocols if transporting a patient. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

Job Description

Baptist Health is looking for a PRN Paramedic to join our Transport EMS team at Baptist Health Lexington! Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice. Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately. Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe. Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care. Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic. Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients. Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery. Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely. Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service. Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency required. Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration. BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC. PALS & ACLS certifications. Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS. Valid driver's license.
