Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paramedic with 3 years of related experience.
  • 1 extra year with AEMT may substitute for Paramedic.
  • 2 extra years with EMT may substitute for Paramedic.
  • Previous leadership experience is required.
  • Kentucky EMT/Advanced EMT/Paramedic license.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Data analysis experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CADS certification or obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line shift leadership and oversee daily operations.
  • Ensure ambulances are inspected and reports are filed.
  • Manage transport workflow and crew resources.
  • Lead staff through daily tasks and address personnel issues.
  • Provide patient care within licensure scope during transport.

The Team Lead supports daily field operations by following approved policies, procedures, protocols, and escalation pathways. Team Leads model professionalism, integrity, accountability, and service excellence while supporting safe, efficient, and compliant EMS operations.

Job Description

Baptist Health is looking for a full‑time Paramedic EMS Team Lead to join our transport team at Baptist Health Louisville! Provides first line shift leadership on a day‑to‑day basis. Oversees daily operational readiness and ensures that all ambulances are inspected, records and reports any issues, and advises the Director of immediate needs. Manages transport workflow and assigns crew member resources. Leads employees through daily tasks and addresses personnel issues as needed. Performs ambulance transportation services and provides patient care within their scope of practice in alignment with corresponding licensures or certifications (i.e., Paramedic, AEMT, EMT). Provides quality medical care to patients requiring ambulance transportation. Ensures the safe and efficient transport of patients in a team setting. Acts in the event of an emergency to render aid to sick or injured patients. Assists other team members in completing their required tasks. Thoroughly and accurately completes all required departmental documentation. Completes patient care reports for each transport prior to the completion of their shift. Accurately documents required information for departmental data analysis. Coordinates with Office Coordinator to ensure required documents (PCS, ABN, EMTALA) are submitted with ePCR submissions. Acts as a department preceptor to onboard new employees. Serves as a role model for employees joining the department. Advises new employees on practices, expectations, and departmental standards. Provides weekly reports on new employees’ progress during their orientation period.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Paramedic + 3 years of job-related experience required.
  • 1 additional year of experience plus AEMT may be substituted for Paramedic.
  • 2 additional years of experience plus EMT may be substituted for Paramedic.
  • Previous leadership required.
  • Kentucky Certified EMT OR Advanced EMT OR Paramedic License.
  • BLS (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic) and ACLS (Paramedic).
  • Data analysis experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Current Certified Ambulance Documentation Specialist (CADS) or must obtain within 6 months of the date of hire.
