Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings. The role reports to the Center Manager and aligns with BioLife and FDA training requirements.

Successful candidates will hold active state licensure (EMT, LPN/LVN, RN) with CPR/AED certification, plus at least two years in a clinical setting. Expect compliance with safety, EHS, and medical protocols.

Qualifications

• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Licensed/certified in the state of responsibilities for EMT/EMT/RN/LPN.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and physical examination.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies with center physician guidance.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health review with EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
