Job summary

Tyler Junior College is seeking an Advanced Skills Laboratory Assistant to support hands-on paramedic labs and simulations within the EMSP department, ensuring realism, safety, and alignment with national education standards.

The position is part-time, up to 18 hours per week, and supports lead faculty by coaching students, maintaining equipment, and assisting with assessments. This role contributes to developing competent entry-level paramedics in a professional learning environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Proficiency as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT-P) required.
• Minimum 6 months of current field experience as a NREMT-P or Licensed Paramedic.
• Current Texas DSHS Paramedic licensure and BLS/ACLS/PALS provider.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during advanced paramedic labs and simulations under lead faculty.
• Inform students of learning outcomes and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
• Demonstrate competency-based EMS skills per national/state scope of practice.
• Assist in setup, breakdown and inventory of simulation labs, maintaining equipment readiness.
• Reinforce professional behavior and safety protocols in simulated settings.
• Support remediation, lab-based assessments, and collaborate with EMSP team.
