This is a casual, as-needed position requiring Saturday availability (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) on the designated campus, with duties spanning setup, instruction, evaluation, and cleanup.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Postsecondary coursework in EMS or related health sciences preferred.
• Experience demonstrating EMS skills in a training, clinical, or field environment preferred.
• Experience interacting with diverse backgrounds preferred.
• Experience working with instructors or EMS personnel preferred.
• Experience following structured protocols and managing equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in proper EMS skills during lab sessions.
• Conduct skills check-offs to verify student competency.
• Assist in setting up practical skills scenarios and ensure equipment safety and functionality.
• Support the evaluation process during scenario-based assessments.
• Assist Primary Instructor with clean-up and restocking of supplies and organizing gear.
• Model professional EMS behavior consistent with practice and safety standards.
• Communicate student progress or concerns to the Primary EMS Lab Instructor or EMS Program Director as appropriate.
• Maintain program equipment in clean, functional, and ready-to-use condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Skills Lab Trainer supports the Primary Instructor with hands‑on learning by providing assistance with practical scenario evaluations and ensuring students master critical pre‑hospital care skills through demonstration and practice. Additionally, the EMS Skills Lab Trainer assists with the logistical maintenance of the lab, including setup, clean-up, and restocking of essential training equipment for a safe, effective, and well‑organized training environment.

This is an as‑needed, casual position and requires Saturday availability (generally 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) at the designated campus.

1. Instruct students in proper execution of EMS skills assigned for each lab session.

2. Conduct skills check-offs to verify student competency and adherence to training protocols.

3. Assist in setting up practical skills scenarios, ensuring equipment functionality and safety.

4. Support the evaluation process during scenario‑based assessments.

5. Assist the Primary Instructor with clean‑up activities, including restocking supply bags, organizing gear, and resetting instructional spaces.

6. Model professional behavior consistent with EMS practice, safety standards, and College expectations.

7. Communicate student progress, concerns, or performance issues to the Primary EMS Lab Instructor or EMS Program Director as appropriate.

8. Maintain program equipment in clean, functional, and ready‑to‑use condition.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Postsecondary coursework in EMS or related health sciences preferred.

Experience:

• Experience demonstrating EMS skills in a training, clinical, or field environment preferred.

• Experience effectively interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds preferred.

• Experience working collaboratively with instructors, trainers, or EMS personnel preferred.

• Experience following structured protocols, managing equipment, and supporting hands‑on learning activities preferred.

License or Certificate:

• Current State or National Registry EMT license required for Basic Life Support (BLS) skills labs.

• Current State or National Registry Paramedic license required for Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills labs.

• State EMS Instructor (EMSI) license preferred but not required.

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance required.

• Work involves standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, kneeling, and moving between lab stations.

• Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment or supply bags up to 50 pounds.

• Frequent use of hands to demonstrate skills, operate EMS equipment, and manipulate training tools.

• Involves exposure to simulation materials, manikins, and realistic EMS training scenarios.

• Work is performed in active lab settings that may include noise, movement, and dynamic instructional activity.

• Saturday availability and on‑site work at the campus are required.
