Summary

The ED Paramedic, working under the supervision of a licensed nurse and medical director, provides direct patient care and performs duties to ensure an optimal patient experience in the emergency department. Responsibilities include clerical duties, assisting patients and families, and performing various emergency medical procedures within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients and families during admission, transfer, and discharge, respecting confidentiality and maintaining the patient environment.
• Provide emotional support, assist with orientation, and ensure safety and emotional needs are met.
• Perform skills validated by orientation, including ECG acquisition, defibrillation, airway management, and venous access, adhering to infection control standards.
• Handle clerical duties, assist healthcare providers, and demonstrate professionalism and flexibility.
• Document patient information and report significant changes promptly.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved EMT Paramedic program
• Paramedic certification (state or national)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred:

• 6 months paramedic experience
