Job summary

CSL in Austin, Texas is seeking a professional to evaluate donor suitability and provide limited emergency medical care for automated pheresis procedures. The role includes interviewing donors, reviewing medical history, and interpreting test results to determine ongoing suitability.

As part of the team, you will respond to medical questions, counsel donors on reactive tests, and follow standard SOPs while escalating critical situations to the Center Physician when needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• Foreign medical graduates must be licensed as a physician or certified as an emergency medical technician in the state.
• NY candidate must hold RN/MD/DO licensure or reciprocal state certification.
• Minimum of 1 year in a health care environment.
• Experience in plasma or whole blood collection center or regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess physical findings (heart/lung sounds, signs of drug use).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews.
• Respond to medically related questions and advise staff on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer for follow-up.
• Provide routine care per SOPs and escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician.
