Job summary

CSL in Austin, TX is seeking qualified medical personnel to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine eligibility for plasma donation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must be licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT.
• For NY: state licensure/certification as RN, MD or DO or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medications.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor suitability.
• Collaborate with the Center Medical Director on donor questions and information.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer as needed.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical situations to a Center Physician.
