Job summary

The City of Lynchburg is seeking EMS personnel to provide advanced life support at scenes and during transport. You will respond to incidents, drive EMS units, and deliver pre-hospital care as part of the Fire Department team.

Qualifications include EMT-Paramedic or equivalent, CPR, ACLS, EVOC Level II, and NIMS IS-100/700 training within 90 days. A valid Virginia driver’s license is required, with no recent DUI or disqualifying violations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED completion.
Current CPR certification.
EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic Certification is required.
ACLS certification must be maintained.
EVOC Level II certification is required.
IS-100 and IS-700 NIMS training within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Responds to emergency and non-emergency incidents and operates apparatus.
Administers pre-hospital basic/advanced life support and stabilizes/transports patients.
Responds to non-emergency calls and provides related services as needed.
Prepares reports and maintains records of medic unit responses and inspections.
Participates in ongoing training and drills in emergency medical treatment.
Maintains and repairs emergency equipment and cleans stations and vehicles.
