Job summary

City of Portsmouth EMS division seeks a Paramedic to provide emergency medical treatment and direct patient care in the pre-hospital environment. You will operate ambulances and deliver basic and advanced life support according to protocols while coordinating with medical facilities.

Candidates must hold Virginia EMT-Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic, and obtain Virginia certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of related EMS experience.
• Must possess Virginia EMT-Paramedic certification or National Registry Paramedic.
• Ability to obtain Virginia EMT-Paramedic within 60 days of employment.
• CPR/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and advanced life support medical care.
• Supervise patient care in the pre-hospital environment.
• Transport patients to medical facilities based on protocols.
• Operate emergency ambulances and light duty vehicles.
