Job summary

The City of Lynchburg, VA is seeking a qualified EMS professional to perform advanced life support and patient stabilization at emergency scenes and during transport. You will operate EMS vehicles, document responses, and participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications.

Required are Virginia EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic credentials, CPR and ACLS, EVOC, and NIMS IS100/IS200/IS700/IS800 completion within stated timelines.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain Virginia Emergency Medical Technician- Intermediate or Paramedic Certification.
• Completion of IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment.
• Demonstrated CPR, ACLS, EVOC and EMS patient care competencies.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency and non-emergency incidents, drives ambulance and EMS staff vehicles.
• Administers pre-hospital basic and/or advanced life support; stabilizes and transports patients.
• Responds to non-emergency calls and conducts other non-emergency service calls as necessary.
• Prepares reports and maintains records of medic unit responses and incident reports.
• Participates in ongoing training and drills; studies technical material.
• Maintains and repairs EMS equipment and cleans stations, grounds and apparatus.
