Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo is hiring a Paramedic for full-time night shift. You will provide outcome-based nursing care under supervision, assist in monitoring and reporting patient responses, and work within MercyOne’s mission and values to deliver high-quality care.

Requirements include 1+ year EMS or ER experience, Iowa EMT-Paramedic certification or CCP, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS with PHTLS recommended. Join a large regional system with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current Iowa EMT-Paramedic or CCP certification.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required; PHTLS highly recommended.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training within 6 months of hire.
• Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Specialist Course or National Paramedic Course.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing observations to gather data.
• Assists in development of the outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assists with implementation of the plan of care.
• Monitors patient progress toward identified outcomes/goals.
• Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize outcomes.

A Paramedic at MercyOne, through evidence-based practice, under the supervision of a registered nurse or ED providers, provides outcome/goal-based nursing care for patients and assists the Registered Nurse in monitoring, observing and reporting patient response to interventions. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

• Conducts initial and ongoing observations to gather data.
• Assists in development of the outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assists with the implementation of an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Assists in monitoring patient progress toward individual identified patient outcomes/goals.
• Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals.

Schedule:

• Full-Time/ 80 Hours Biweekly / Night Shift

General Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-year ambulance or emergency room experience preferred.
• Current certified Iowa EMT-PM or CCP
• BLS provider
• ACLS
• PALS
• PHTLS highly recommended.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.

Education:

• Graduate of a Iowa Paramedic Specialist Course or National Paramedic Course.
