Job summary

Priority Ondemand seeks an experienced Paramedic in Newport News, VA to lead basic and advanced life support in pre-hospital or facility settings.

You will direct crew, assess patients, document findings, and ensure safety on all EMS runs. Sign-on bonuses of $15,000 for Day shift and $25,000 for Night shift accompany a 2-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Virginia EMT-I or EMT-P certification.
• Current CPR, Healthcare Provider issued.
• ACLS certification required.
• PALS or PEPP certification required.
• EVOC certification required.
• BTLS/ITLS or PHTLS preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Pass criminal background check.
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800c required.
• HAZMAT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and participate in delivering basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
• Direct crew as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examine patients and report findings to medical staff.
• Deliver emergency medical care per medical control protocols.
• Complete and file all required reports for crew runs.
• Operate ambulances in compliance with safety rules and laws.
• Maintain vehicle stock and readiness at shift start and end.
• Clean patient care compartment and vehicle per infection control guidelines.
• Keep the facility and parking areas neat and orderly.
• Attend trainings to maintain Virginia EMS certification.
• Provide copies of certifications and driver's license before expiration.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Paramedic role is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating non-emergency and/or emergency modalities as rescue unit in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and directives. The EMT-P lead, direct, and participate in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation. When operating as attendant-in-charge, EMT-P provides direction to other crew members on patient care and medical issues. The EMT-P delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Time will be spent leading, directing, and participating in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
• Gives direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examines patients and reports findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
• Delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
• Responsible for completing and recording all required reports or runs made by the crews.
• Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations: company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes
• Assuring that assigned vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response, and at the end of each shift.
• Cleaning patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines.
• Maintaining office, lounge, bunk room, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet
• Attending training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company.
• Maintain all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supply the Human Resources Department with valid copies of all certifications and driver's license prior to their expiration date.
• Performing other related duties as required by management.
