Job summary

Priority Ondemand in Newport News, VA seeks an EMT-B/Lifecare Transport provider to lead basic life support in pre-hospital and facility settings, delivering emergency care per protocols.

You will direct crew as attendant-in-charge, assess patients, and report findings to medical staff while operating ambulances safely and maintaining documentation. A $10,000 sign-on bonus applies for Day/Night shifts with a 2-year FT commitment.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia EMT Certification.
• Current CPR, Healthcare Provider certification.
• Valid Driver’s License with no negative points.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• FEMAICS 100, 200, 700 & 800c.
• HAZMAT certification.
• TIMS certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and participate in the delivery of basic life support in pre-hospital or facility settings.
• Gives direction to crew when acting as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examine patients and report findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
• Deliver emergency medical care as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
• Operate the ambulance safely according to rules, policies, and laws.
• Complete and file all required reports or runs.
• Ensure vehicle is stocked and in good order at shift start/end.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient care areas and vehicle per guidelines.
• Refuel and maintain emergency readiness of the unit.
• Attend trainings to maintain Virginia EMT Certification and company requirements.
• Keep copies of certifications and driver’s license up to date.

The Emergency Medical Technician field provider is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating in non-emergency and /or emergency modalities as a rescue unit in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and directives.

The EMT-B leads, directs, and participates in the delivery of basic life support and participates in the delivery of advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation. When operating as attendant- in-charge, the EMT provides direction to other crew members on patient care and medical issues. The EMT delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Time will be spent leading, directing, and participating in the delivery of basic life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
• Gives direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examines patients and reports findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
• Delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
• Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state and local laws, regulations and statutes.
• Responsible for completing and recording all required reports or runs made by the crews.
• Assuring that assigned vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response and at the end of each shift.
• Cleaning patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines.
• Fuel unit at the end of every shift to maintain emergency readiness of unit.
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet.
• Maintaining office, lounge, bunk room, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
• Attending training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company.
• Maintain all required certificates as an active EMS provider and supply the Human Resources Department with valid copies of all certifications and driver’s license prior to their expiration date.
• Performing other related duties as required by management.
