Job summary

University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center is seeking an experienced Emergency Department technician to support clinicians during ED visits. Responsibilities include performing 12-lead EKGs, blood draws, initiating Hep-locks, bedside point-of-care testing, aerosol treatments and ABGs, and gaining IV access as directed.

You will prepare patients and care environments for exams, transport patients, and ensure daily quality controls, defibrillator checks, and PHI compliance.

Qualifications

• Assist patients and health care needs as directed by clinician during Emergency Department visit.
• Must abide by PHI requirements and UH policies; annual training and orientation are in place.
• Competency-based tool/orientation program governs delegated basic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs 12-lead EKGs, blood draws, initiates Hep-locks, bedside point-of-care testing, aerosol treatments and ABGs.
• Gain IV access as directed by order and prepare patients and care environment for exams and specimen collection.
• Transports patients and ensures daily quality controls, defibrillator checks, and refrigerator checks are completed.
• Performs delegated basic procedures per annual competency tool and orientation; completes other duties as assigned.

Full-Time, Days at Elyria Medical Center

Assist patients and health care needs as directed by clinician during Emergency Department visit including performing 12 lead EKGs, blood draws, initiate Hep-locks, bedside point of care testing, aerosol treatments. Ensures the daily completion of point of care testing quality controls, defibrillator checks, refrigerator checks, transports. Performs ABGs and gain IV access as directed by order. Prepares patients and care environment for exam, specimen collection and anticipates needs of patients and providers proactively. Performs delegated basic procedures as described by their annual competency based tool and orientation program.
