Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach is seeking a Monitor Tech to support patient care by performing 12-lead EKG tests, initiating cardiac monitoring, and alerting staff to any abnormalities. You will collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure patient safety on the unit.

The role requires 1+ year of ED or pre-hospital paramedic experience, BLS, PARA, ACLS, and PALS certifications, plus strong customer service, organization, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year ED or pre-hospital paramedic experience required.
• BLS, PARA, ACLS and PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Attach and complete 12-lead EKG tests and monitor patients.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring and report abnormalities to nurses.
• Assist physicians and nurses with procedures; maintain infection control.

Job Description

Attaches and completes 12 lead EKG tests before providing the strip to the physician on duty. Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the assigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities. Performs venipuncture for testing and inserts peripheral IVs, hang IV fluid without medication, and maintains prescribed IV flow rates. Observes and documents the condition of infusion sites and remove IV lines as directed by registered nurse. Assists physician or registered nurse with procedures and exams. Follows Center for Disease Control isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of personal protective equipment, perform hand washing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations. Champions customer service by keeping patients informed, providing updates, and demonstrating caring and compassion. Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Transports patients as directed by licensed personnel. Other duties as assigned.
