Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida seeks an IV/ECG focused technician to perform 12-lead EKGs, initiate cardiac monitoring, and assist in patient care. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and patient comfort in a busy clinical setting.

You will perform venipuncture, insert/monitor IVs, and support procedures while adhering to isolation guidelines and PPE usage. Strong communication and English proficiency are required.

Responsibilities

  • Attaches and completes 12-lead EKG tests and provides the strip to the physician on duty.
  • Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies staff of abnormalities.
  • Performs venipuncture for testing and inserts peripheral IVs; manages IV fluids per policy.
  • Observes infusion sites, removes IV lines as directed, and assists procedures.
  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines and uses PPE; maintains safety standards.
  • Delivers patient-centered care, informs patients, and facilitates transfers as directed.

Job Description:

Attaches and completes 12 lead EKG tests before providing the strip to the physician on duty. Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the assigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities. Performs venipuncture for testing and inserts peripheral IVs, hang IV fluid without medication, and maintains prescribed IV flow rates. Observes and documents the condition of infusion sites and remove IV lines as directed by registered nurse. Assists physician or registered nurse with procedures and exams. Follows Center for Disease Control isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of personal protective equipment, perform hand washing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations. Champions customer service by keeping patients informed, providing updates, and demonstrating caring and compassion. Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Transports patients as directed by licensed personnel. Other duties as assigned.
